Lady Gaga Settles Unpaid Overtime Lawsuit

NEW YORK — An unpaid overtime claim was filed on behalf of Lady Gaga’s former personal assistant, Jennifer O’Neil.  The lawsuit sought back overtime pay for more than 6,600 hours worked for the poLady Gagap singer. O’Neil claimed in the lawsuit that was owed back pay of $19,200 for her work in early 2009, and almost $360,000 for her non-stop work between February 2012 and March 2011.

It also alleged that she was required to be available to the singer for 24 hours a day, often without a break.  The claim was filed in the Manhattan federal court.

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) sets mandatory minimum wage rates and requires most employees, who are known as “non-exempt” to receive overtime pay for each hour worked over 40 in a single workweek.  Employers who refuse to pay wages in violation of the federal laws, in this case Lady Gaga, can be held liable and be sued in an overtime pay claim.

Claims for unpaid wages can be made dating back two years, and in some states even more, so it is essential to contact an attorney immediately if you are being underpaid your wages or not receiving overtime pay.  Call our experienced legal team today at (855) 754-2795 to find out if you have a case.
