Is a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) entitled to overtime pay?

Under most circumstances, a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) is not entitled to overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).  This is because a CRNA position is a specialty area of nursing.  In addition to being a specialty are, certified registered nurse anesthetists are often considered “exempt” employees. Under the FLSA, “exempt” employees are not entitled to overtime pay wages for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

However, there may be some circumstances where a CRNA may be entitled to overtime pay.  Some states do have their own overtime pay laws that differ slightly from the FLSA overtime pay laws.  For this reason, it is important that if you are a certified registered nurse anesthetist working in excess of 40 hours per week and not getting paid you should contact an experience overtime pay attorney to look into your case and determine whether or not you are entitled to receive overtime pay.
