I’ve worked for Jack Rabbit since Feb 2012. I’ve worked 12-24 hr shifts since then.
Currently I am classified as an independent contractor yet receive a W2 for income tax. I’ve never been paid overtime and never offered benefits as provided by the Affordable Care Act.
What recourse do I have?

My name is James Johnson…I was working for JACKRABBIT in the Biloxi Gulfport area of Mississippi ive been treated poorly since I started the job, I was told I was my own boss but they constant threaten my with “shutting down the market” a ten they use to scare you into not declining calls and working you like a slave….they owe me like $500 I back pay but say it’s my fault because they say they are not getting my invoices but that’s a lie..any way I would like to file with someone or start my own lawsuit against them…im currently facing eviction and can’t pay my bills because of this company….my number is (916)601-8397

Jackrabbit did purposely lie and overstate the number of assignment s and estimated profits to trick technicians into wasting there time working for them. I was the only tech to cover all of winston salem and was on call 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. The best day ever I had 6 calls at 15$ some days I didn’t get any, it was a total waste of time and very unprofitable, sue them!!

According to JR you are Independent Contractors and the time you refuse calls way out of the area they shut you down and stop dispatching calls to you. They have complete control of your areas, your hours you work and how you do the job. This is classified as employee status.
