Comments on: Can an employer who uses a bi-weekly pay period pay its employees overtime pay for working in excess of 80 hours per pay period rather than for over 40 hours per week?

Hello,

Does this apply for government employers? For example, I'm scheduled to work 50 hours next week and 30 the following week, resulting in a 80 hour work week without overtime.

We work on a 10 hours day modified schedule, and plan on moving to a 12 hour work day next month. The 12 hour work day schedule would have us work 36 hours the first week and 48 hours the second week of a pay period. Resulting in only 4 hours of overtime/comp time.

I'm just curious if this is appropriate, or if I should consult our county auditors office for more information.

Thank you,
Jeremy
